Memories of the Beginning is a personal story of survival and friendship between two 13-year-old prison guards at one of Cambodia’s earliest killing fields. Filmed on the site of the prison 50 years after it closed, the film guides the viewer through a hard-won journey of compassion and freedom.
Fin Boswell
Fin Boswell is a London-based documentary filmmaker. With a background in philosophy, Fin entered the filmmaking world as a way to synthesise philosophical ideas outside of academia, with the aim of making philosophical ideas more accessible through the visual medium. This has ranged from experimental video work to their most recent project which examines the Cambodian genocide through the experiences of ex-Khmer Rouge guards and soldiers. Fin’s work focuses on using historical narratives to explore abstract concepts which shed light on the present moment. They also work as a photoshoot producer.
