IF I WERE AN APPLE is a poetic exploration of identity, renewal, and transformation. Drawing inspiration from a Korean ritual of writing wishes or misfortunes on paper and burning them for spiritual cleansing, the work reinterprets this tradition through a contemporary lens. Using hanji (Korean traditional paper) and the gestures of the dance Jijeon dance (paper dance), the performance becomes a visual meditation on release and rebirth. As flames consume the paper, the body moves between memory and liberation, embodying a personal journey toward healing and forward motion.
